The Board of Directors of Grameen Bank consists of 13 directors. Among them, three directors, including the Chairman of the Board are appointed by the Government, and the 9 directors are elected from among the shareholder borrower members of Grameen Bank. The remaining director is the managing director as ex-officio of the bank.

Prof. Dr. AKM Saiful Majid joined the Board of Directors, Grameen Bank as its Chairman on March 24, 2020 for two years. After completion of his first tenure, he was reappointed for two years. He worked as a Selection Grade Professor at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. He also worked successfully in different administrative positions that include Warden, IBA Hostel; Chairperson, Executive MBA and BBA Programs, and Chairperson, Center for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, IBA. He successfully completed Directorship (a 3-year tenure since July 2015) of IBA. Highlights of his academic and professional achievements are as follows:
He received the Senior Fulbright Fellowship Award from the Department of State, USA in 2009, and successfully completed the same in 2010. Also worked as the Wells-Ghani Faculty Fellow at the Indiana University, Bloomington, USA in 2015. Received Education Leadership Award in 7th Asia’s Academic Excellence Award Ceremony in Singapore, sponsored by World Education Congress and CMO Council Asia in August 2016. Also received Bangladesh Education Leadership Award in 2018.
Received a Gold Medal for securing the 1st position in Humanities Group, Secondary School Certificate Examination, Rajshahi Board, Bangladesh in 1969. Obtained the 4th position in Humanities Group, Higher Secondary Certificate Examination, Rajshahi Board, Bangladesh in 1972.
Has extensive research and consultancy work experiences in Education and Training, Monitoring and Evaluation and Social Sector Development (particularly in the areas of poverty alleviation, education, socio-economic condition analysis etc.). Worked as the Team Leader in various WB, UNDP, UNICEF, Government of Bangladesh, FRG, UK Government sponsored projects.
Successfully completed multiple research projects/studies relating to sustainability, education, poverty alleviation, family planning, health issues of Grameen Bank, BRAC, TMSS, ActionAid, Caritas and several other national and local NGOs.
As the Team Leader, he successfully completed the study on Development of a Sustainable Business Model for Union Digital Centers (UDCs) in Bangladesh, sponsored by the a2i Project of the Honorable Prime Minister’s Office, Government of the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh in 2017. Has been working as a Member, National Steering Board (NSB), Water Resources Group (WRG) 2030 for Bangladesh since 2016. Has been working as a Member, Water Valuing Committee for Bangladesh since 2018. Also has been working as a Member, Water Innovation Committee since October 2019.

Mr. Md. JashimUddin has been serving as Deputy Managing Director (PRL) of Janata Bank Limited since 4th November 2020. Prior to joining this Bank, he also served in ProbashiKallyan Bank (PKB) as Deputy Managing Director from 16th September 2019 to 3rd November 2020. Before being promoted topresent position, he worked as General Manager of Janata Bank Limited for almost three years. He was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of Grameen Bank on 25th October 2021. .
Mr. Md. JashimUddin was born in a respectable muslim family in Brahmanbaria district. He obtained his Honours& Master’s degrees in Economics from the University of Dhaka. He also obtained Postgraduate degree in Business Administration from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology. He pursuedDiplomaed Associate of Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh (DAIBB).He started his carrier in Janata Bank Limited in 1988 as Senior Officer. During his long service, he served in various capacities in the field level and controlling office of the bank including Special Assets Management Division, Audit & Inspection Division, Estate & Engineering Division, Business Development Marketing & Law Division, Common Service Division,Monitoring and Compliance Division, Risk Management Division, Research and Planning Division.
Mr. Md. JashimUddin would take classes in Janata Bank Staff College & Regional Training Institutes including other financial organizations of the country. He took part in a good number of training courses at home and abroad. He participated in a lot of seminars, symposiums, workshops, conferences organized both at various national and international financial institutions. He received several letters of appreciation from Board of Directors of Janata Bank Limited for his outstanding contribution to the bank.
